Can commodity inexpensive 3-D printer boards be used

 Hi, thank you so much for this great resource, and all the work put into it.

I saw that on all the express there are preassembled modules with stepper motor drivers and Mega R3 boards. 

They also include LCD displays,  and Im  wondering, or rather hoping, that these could be used.

The Arduino Mega is far from the performance the DUE delivers and can therefor not be used for the miniEngine v2.

Thank you, they make a version that is DUE as well,  I can see the display would not be the same though.
